McGillan, Inc. is a family-owned business based in Fort Fairfield, Maine, serving the Aroostook County area for over four generations. We provide commercial, residential, and agricultural services, with experience in all phases of earthwork, including site preparation, civil construction, road and highway construction, building and demolition, agricultural work, utility work, and landfill closures. McGillan is committed to providing high-quality services for our customers and to maintaining a safe work environment for our employees and staff. McGillan History
Fred “JR” McGillan started McGillan, Inc. after earning an engineering degree from the University of Maine in 1987. He had grown up working for his father’s construction company, Fred McGillan Company, which also worked for his father. Drawing on generations of experience, Fred McGillan built a thieving company, which he later passed on to his son, Shane McGillan.
McGillan's Start in 1988
In the spring of 1987, McGillan completed site work for a housing project in Fort Fairfield. Later that year, McGillan was awarded the $230,000 sewer job.
Walmart
$1.5 million Walmart job proving that McGillan could “get the work done.” This project included all site, utility, and storm drainage work for a 95,000-square-foot building, using nearly 80,000 yards of material to bring the site up to grade.

Highway reconstruction on Conant Road in Presque Isle, along with pavement and drainage improvements in Washburn, Presque Isle, and Limestone.

Central business district utilities replacement.
